Configure IIS

The next step in configuring customer web access is to configure the web server's IIS IIS (Internet Information Server) is IIS is Microsoft's business-class Web server.   1. Select Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services. The Internet Information Services dialog box appears.

  1. Right-click the Default SMTP Virtual Server and select Start from the pop-up menu. The SMTP Virtual Server will start.

In a public environment, the SMTP SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is a protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers. Most e-mail systems that send mail over the Internet use SMTP to send messages from one server to another. Server should restrict the connections it receives and allows to distribute messages; if it isn't, it could be used for illegitimate distribution of e-mails.

  1. Expand the folders until you find the WebAccess folder. You should find it in the Internet Information Services/(name of the web-server)/Web Sites/Default Web Site directory.

  2. Right-click the WebAccess folder and select Properties from the pop-up menu. The Directory tab of the WebAccess Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click Create. Many of the fields will become active.

  4. Verify that all of the permissions are set to match those shown below:

  1. Click the Documents tab.

  2. Click Add. The Add Default Document dialog box appears.

  3. Type "login.asp" into the Default Document Name field.

  4. Click OK. login.asp appears in the Default Document list.

  5. Highlight login.asp.

  6. Click the up arrow until login.asp appears at the top of the list.

  1. Click Apply.

  2. Click OK. The Internet Information Services dialog box reappears. Note that the WebAccess icon has changed from a folder to an icon. This means the service is up and running.
