Upgrading Customer Web Access files

To upgrade the Customer Web Access files for a newer version of ServiceCEO, please follow the same steps that you would to configure Customer Web Access for the first time, as described here: Install Customer Web Access Files

Before you begin, note that upgrading Customer Web Access will overwrite your current global.asa and style.css files. If you want to keep your current configuration settings, you must save the current versions of these files in a different location (outside of C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\) before you start the upgrade process. This way, you can remember how you configured your previous Customer Web Access site and duplicate this setup in the new global.asa and style.css files.

Note!

Note:
When upgrading your Customer Web Access files, you will need to overwrite the two .dll files (cdonts.dll and SWWebCust.dll). However, these DLL files may be loaded by IIS IIS (Internet Information Server) is IIS is Microsoft's business-class Web server. Although Apache boasts more total worldwide installations than IIS, many corporations choose IIS as their Web server because it is supported by a commercial organization. Some have criticized IIS in the past, though, for its alleged security weaknesses. IIS has improved over the years, supports many Web standards including SSL, and integrates well with other Microsoft Web technologies such as FrontPage. An administrator can manage IIS through a graphical console, the Internet Services Manager.. If so, Windows will not let you delete/overwrite the files (since they are in use). To rectify the problem, perform the following actions:

  1. Open IIS.
  2. Right-click your computer on the left-hand side of the Internet Information Services dialog box and select All Tasks > Restart IIS... from the pop-up menu. The Stop/Start/Reboot... dialog box appears.
  3. Verify that Restart Internet Services on [Computer Name] is selected from the drop-down list and click OK. A dialog box will appear, displaying the progress of the reboot. After IIS is rebooted, you should be able to delete/overwrite the DLL files.

If rebooting IIS does not let you delete the DLL files, reboot the computer and try again.
